Our annual dinner, in memory of co-founder Joe Bernfeld, was held on February 7, 2011. Our speaker was the witty and delightful Prof. Nancy B. Rapoport. We also heard from Bill Bernfeld and Marty Zohn, who spoke about Joe Bernfeld's contributions to the bankruptcy community.
On December 13, 2010, the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum and other local groups held an event to raise money for Public Counsel, Bet Tzedek, Neighborhood Legal Services, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, and others who contribute to those in need of bankruptcy-related services in our community. The Roybal looked pretty nice and everyone had a fine time.
On November 17, 2010, the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum and other local groups joined forces at the Skirball for a sold-out reception to honor Hon. Geraldine Mund, Hon. Samuel Bufford, and Hon. Kathleen Thompson (our retiring judges). We were treated to a humorous slide show, a classical string quartet, and presentations from Ms. Nelson, Ms. Miller, Hon. Zurzolo, Mr. Gould, Mr. Klee, Hon. Bluebond, Hon. Mund, Hon. Bufford, and Hon. Thompson. Thank you -- all 400 of you!
On October 4, 2010, we heard a panel on commercial real estate workout, restructuring, and bankruptcy topics. Our excellent speakers were Sam Newman (moderator), Hon. Deborah Saltzman, Michael Wachtell of Buchalter Nemer, and Gregory Gotthard of Alvarez & Marsal Real Estate Advisory Services.
